Dispersing Know-How for MM Gernsbach in the city of papermakers

Dispersing Know-How from GAW for a plant in Gernsbach / Germany:

MM Gernsbach is one of the most efficient recycling Board plants in Europe. It was founded in 1841 as a sawmill and started the industrial production of board in 1951. The plant is part of MM Board & Paper since 2001.

Nowadays MM Gernsbach employs about 250 people. The BM2 with a width of 3.3 meters is producing 280.000 to/y of high-quality recycling board with a weight range from 250-500 g/m².

Gernsbach in Baden-Württemberg / Germany is also called the “city of papermakers”: next to paper and board mills it is also the home of the Papierzentrum Gernsbach (an educational center for paper technologists) as well as EUWID Pulp & Paper (Europäischer Wirtschaftsdienst). And all of them are located in a very beautiful surrounding and landscape.

While visiting the customer to talk about a new engineering project, Christian Makari from GAW and the project manager from MM Gernsbach also took a look at the previously implemented new CDS dispersingmachine from GAW. Since 2023 it helps to refine the high-quality coating colour for the recycling board of MM, which is further processed to more sustainable packaging for things of everyday life.

Christian Stine was responsible for the engineering, while Stephan Weber was the project manager. “This project was special because the batch mixer had to be engineered with an extremely low minimum volume and overall this mixer has a particular wide range (from minimum to the maximum) filling capacity. And the installation and mounting - especially the piping - had the be fit into an existing surrounding. We also completely decoupled the dispersingmachine structurally, to avoid vibrations. The teamwork with the customer was excellent – it was indeed a very nice project to work on!”

The experts from GAW would like to thank the entire team from the customer MM Gernsbach for the great collaboration.

And what will be the next project? …Probably again an effective installation within the continuous progress of innovative development and enhancement on both sides.
