Paper Technology Master Students of University of Applied Sciences Munich visited GAW and AutomationX

This week GAW technologies and AutomationX had the pleasure of welcoming a group of paper technology master students from the Hochschule München / University of Applied Sciences Munich.

Together with their professor Dr. Tobias A. Kleemann we visited the technical center / trial lab of GAW and gave insights to many topics from the core competences in coating & preparation.
For example we took a closer look at a dispersing machine and discussed the various possibilities that guarantee the required viscosities, solid contents and rheologic characteristics of homogenous dispersions and emulsions.
We also showed an ECO-R filter system (used to filter agglomerates and contaminants from liquids, dispersions, emulsions, coating pigments and coating colours), as well as brand new technology: a cavitation unit that is currently tested within the preparation of enzymatic starch.

During the second half of the visit, the specialists from AutomationX informed the students about the latest trends in digitalization and automation, with a special focus on the project drying optimization (savings of steam and electric energy).
