Proven know-how on new paths - from paper to e-mobility
The Austrian industrial plant engineering and construction company GAW technologies GmbH recently received an order for the elaborate preparation and mixing of highly complex media in the coating of battery foils.
For more than 70 years entrepreneurial courage and a strong culture of innovation are the ingredients of the success story of GAW technologies. Today, GAW is a global player in the processing and preparation of chemicals, starch, coatings, coatings, wastewater and process water, as well as in automation and digitization - especially for the paper and board industry. In this core business, thousands of reference systems have already been installed at almost every major manufacturer of graphic, specialty and packaging papers around the world.
The core company of the GAW Group can now report on a new and exciting area of application for its technology: the mixing of extremely abrasive media made of finely ground ceramics, carbon compounds and binders, which are applied to extremely thin foils. These foils consist of copper and aluminium, among other things. They are further processed after coating and form an essential part of batteries and other storage media - for example for vehicles with electric drives.
In this process, the requirement for extremely precise quality control is decisive. Not only are most precise measurements necessary in order to meet the special process engineering requirements, the equipment must also be able to withstand the strong abrasion of the ceramic and binder mixture as well as foaming during production must be prevented to a large extend.
Naturally, the management is very pleased to have a special plant construction project of this kind in the order books. "With this order, we have taken a significant step into the future field of electro mobility and prove once again that it is the industry that supports the energy transition with its solutions," says Nina Pildner-Steinburg.
